the a-side brims with tension both contemplative and active. ‘hope you’re close’ is a deep burner, with heavy, pounding bass and an entrancing hook ascending to space. this then escalates into the urgency of ‘aposynthesis (need more sisa)’, in which a driving, rolling rhythm is juxtaposed with an old school, dutch-style rave synth.

weve been huge fans of tims work since the release of his first self-titled ep on astrolab. his analogue sound has been described as both death mulch and rare gloom. for his second work for love twelve, he continues the journey into dark spaces with four more deep synth freakers from his fish island school of synthesis studio. after releases on esteemed labels including emotional response, world unknown, bird scarer, hoga nord, rotters golf club (as the asphodells with andrew weatherall) and his own label crimes of the future which he runs with scott fraser, his debut album where is the champion? was released earlier in the year to critical acclaim. tim will continue to push forward and we feel privileged to see him return for a wfl round two.

hvl has landed on many different labels in recent years, but rough house rosie will always be something of a spiritual home for the adventurous deep electro and techno craftsman. across the hidden valley ep he displays a fluid, instinctive approach to composition enslaver rolls out like a live jam but the detail and control embedded in the track is astounding. distom spook is charged with nervous acidic energy, while lemon stealer takes things in a more experimental direction with all manner of snaking synth voices wriggling around a crisp electro beat. crow hill finishes the ep off with a slow, rolling breakbeat groove and hazy pads for a quintessential b2 wind-down session.
